Meet Steve B.

This time I was selected for the featured employee so I get to interview myself.  My name is Steve B. and I am an administrative and facilities manager at Indepak.  I am also the webmaster.  I started working at Indepak in 1983 when I was hired to assemble machinery.  I have had other jobs over the years including production manager, developmental engineering manager, and now my current role in administration.  I have a degree in electronics engineering and one in industrial management with a specialization in operations and finance.  I have been able to apply both my interests and education in the various roles I have had here.

My personal interests include a passion for aviation.  I have owned several airplanes and restored one.  My favorite was a bush plane called a Taylorcraft.  I was licensed as a pilot in 1974.  I enjoy astronomy and amateur (ham) radio.  I built my own radio station and have talked to most of the countries in the world.  I really like rebuilding the old tube-type radios for nostalgic reasons.  I also like working on complex projects or applications on my computer and of course my daily flights on my flight simulator.  Another passion is motorcycles.  I raced them in my youth and am now restoring an old classic street bike for occasional trips on back country roads to enjoy the countryside.

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon along with two brothers and a sister and have lived here all of my life.  I don't always agree with the politics, but the beauty of the state and quality of life are excellent.  Over the years, my family and I have gone camping at different state parks and made trips to the coast, mountains, and high desert which are all very close to us.  I live in Gresham with my wife Kathy and son Brian.  My older children Scott and Amy are busy with college and starting careers.  I am really blessed with a wonderful wife, kids, parents, and son-in-law Andy.

In closing I would like to say that I have enjoyed the various roles I have had at Indepak and hold the owners and employees in very high regard.  The workplace at Indepak is unique with caring owners and talented employees.  Every day presents new challenges and the freedoms we enjoy promote energy and ideas that help keep Indepak competitive in a changing marketplace and economy.

I enjoyed interviewing myself this month and found myself interesting.  I appreciate the opportunity to be the Indepak featured employee.
