The blister pack is the ideal packaging choice for many retail products, from personal care items to toys to office supplies and beyond. At Indepak, we’ve been a leading provider of blister packaging for more than 50 years, and highly recommend this packaging option for the following reasons.

The Blister Pack Is An Affordable Option

If you are searching for affordable custom packaging (and who isn’t?), using plastic materials is an ideal way to keep your costs down. Not only are thermoform plastic materials affordable, but they are also extremely lightweight, which can help reduce your shipping and transportation costs.

We can usually find a custom packaging solution to meet just about any budget, and, at Indepak, we keep just about every part of the process in-house, which further reduces your costs. We have in-house design, prototyping and production teams, and we even provide in-house tooling.

Blister Packs Are Versatile

With blister packs, you have so many options. Not only are there many types of blister packs, but the materials we use also can be designed to fit perfectly around any product. Thermoform plastic packaging can be designed in just about any shape or size and we can create multiple cavities if your product features several parts or components.

If your product is fairly inexpensive, a simple face seal blister pack can be a great affordable option. This is simply a custom plastic cavity that fits over your product and is then affixed to a piece of paper board. This can be a great option for items such as lighters, pens, glue, lip balm and other lightweight, inexpensive items.

For more expensive and heavier items, we can upgrade you to a full face seal blister, a full card blister or a trap blister. These types of blister packs are ideal for more expensive products because they are more tamper-proof and tamper-evident than a basic face seal blister. For an ultimate level of protection, you could consider clamshell packaging or mock clamshell design.  Clamshells are blister packs that fold on to themselves and these can be tightly sealed to protect your product from tampering, theft and moisture.

Blister Packs Are Protective

Even a basic face seal blister provides a good level of protection against moisture and impact. Plastics are highly impact-resistant, which means they can be jostled around during transport or dropped off a store shelf with far less worry about damaging the packaging or the product inside.

Consumers are far less likely to buy a product if the packaging is damaged, so while paper packaging, glass packaging and even aluminum packaging can be damaged easily, plastic packaging is much more durable.

The Blister Pack Is A Sustainable Option

Virtually all of the materials we use at Indepak are recyclable. We also can design sustainable packaging using materials with recycled content, which means we use fewer virgin materials and these packages with recycled content also can be recycled again for future use.

Additionally, trap blisters and other combination designs that utilize paperboard reduce the overall amount of plastic needed for your packaging project. Our design also works diligently to create packaging designs that use as little material as possible. This lowers your costs and also allows you to ship more units per box.

Blister Packs Provide High Visibility

Consumers are more likely to buy a product if they physically can see it, and clear plastic packaging allows consumers to get a clear look at your product. We can create clever, eye-catching packaging designs that attract consumers. We also can consider packaging options such as tri-fold designs, which provide you with the option of hanging the package from a hook or setting it on a store shelf.

Other Types of Packaging

At Indepak, we can create just about any type of packaging you might need. In addition to the many blister pack options and clamshell packaging, we also can create thermoformed trays, tubs with lids, business-to-business tote trays and much more.

Of course, not everything we design is a package. We can create custom thermoformed parts and we have developed a proprietary high-speed process for forming and die cutting foam in-line. If you need thermoform plastics parts or thermoformed foam products, we can help.

Our facility includes multiple lines of high-speed thermoforming equipment, which helps us meet the needs of a diverse clientele. We can thermoform rigid materials from .008” to .080” in thickness and foam materials from about 1/16” to ¼”. We’ve been a leader in the thermoforming industry since 1967 and have years of experience and the capabilities to process many types of materials, including HIPS, PET, PETG, ABS, PVC, OPS, HDPE, PP and starch-based biomaterials.
