If you think the cost of customized packaging is out of reach, think again. At Indepak, we provide our customers with a wide range of customized packaging options and we can always find a material that matches your product needs as well as your budget. Before you give us a call, consider our list of handy cost-cutting tips.

1. Buy It In Bulk

While the upfront cost of bulk customized packaging is higher than a smaller order, the price per unit will be lower, and sometimes significantly so. It can be smart to order more, even if you have to store the excess. If you don’t have room in your facility, our facility includes more than 50,000 square feet of warehouse space, and we can store your packaging and design a custom inventory system for you, as well.

2. Keep A Consistent Design

If you have multiple similar products, it can be smart to keep the same packaging design for all of your products and simply change up the label. This works well with food products, such as yogurt, pasta sauces, cookies, crackers and other items, but it also can work with some retail products. When you keep the same customized packaging design, you can order more units at a lower price per unit.

3. Less Is Less

At Indepak, our design team can create the smallest possible customized packaging for your product. After all, why waste money on excess packaging that you don’t need? We will create a package design that uses just enough material to protect and cover your product and display it to its best advantage. When your packaging is smaller, you also can transport more units in a single shipment, which can reduce your shipping costs, so smaller packaging saves money in more than one way.

4. Pick Low-Cost Materials & Options

We can take a look at your current packaging and determine if there are more affordable options. Our facility includes multiple lines of high-speed thermoforming equipment capable of process a wide range of rigid thermoforming materials as well as foam materials.

We can use PET, PETG, HDPE, PP, ABS and starch-based bioplastics just to name a few, and we can always find something that fits within your budget. In general, using plastic materials is an excellent way to save money as these materials are some of the most affordable options available and they protect your product from moisture, impact and tampering, which also improves your bottom line.

5. Think About Ink

While we aren’t in the business of designing your packaging labels, we can offer up a bit of advice to help cut your labeling costs. Using black ink and just one or two spot colors can be a more affordable option that using an entire rainbow of colors, and some colors are cheaper than others. For instance, stock colors are cheaper than custom colors, simply because more of the ink is produced. Ink costs are exorbitant, so finding ways to cut your ink costs can be a great way to shave some money off your customized packaging budget.

At Indepak, we’ve been creating customized packaging for more than 50 years. Our customers include companies from a wide range of industries, including the specialty foods industry, the personal care industry, the electronics industry, and the medical & pharmaceutical industries. We also can design affordable customized packaging for just about any type of retail product.
